The Routledge Handbook of Urban Design Practice

Join us for the launch of The Routledge Handbook of Urban Design Practice, a landmark new volume that brings together more than 100 contributors from around the world to explore the challenges, opportunities, and future of urban design.

The evening will feature a dynamic lineup of contributors, including Philadelphia-based authors including Scout’s own Lindsey Scannapieco, Lou Huang, Ariel Ben-Amo, and Allen Penniman, alongside editors and contributors Molly O'Neill Robinson, Michael Angelo Larice, and Amanda Haycox. Together, they represent a diverse range of perspectives spanning planning, design, development, public policy, and community engagement.

The program will begin with a round of PechaKucha-style presentations, with contributors offering brief reflections on their chapters and areas of expertise. A moderated roundtable discussion will follow, exploring how urban design can respond to pressing issues including climate change, public health, social equity, economic resilience, and technological change while creating more vibrant, livable, and sustainable cities. Audience members will have the opportunity to submit written questions throughout the event, which will be woven into the conversation by the moderator.

Whether you are a designer, planner, architect, student, civic leader, or simply passionate about the future of cities, this event offers an opportunity to engage with leading voices in the field and celebrate a publication that advances the practice of urban design for a rapidly changing world.
