To kick off Latine Heritage Month, PHLAFF is proud to collaborate with People’s Cinema Club to present a special Philadelphia Documentary Filmmaker Program, featuring a curated selection of documentaries from our 2026 festival season.
Join us for an evening celebrating the stories, perspectives, and creative voices of some members of Philadelphia’s Latine filmmaking community. The program will conclude with a special Q&A featuring directors Jesus Rincón (Henry Bermudez: Art in Continuous Evolution) and Eli LaBan (Searching for the Songs of Wanaragua).

A visually captivating promotional video that explores the artistic journey of renowned Venezuelan-American artist Henry Bermudez. Through detailed imagery of his drawings, sculptures, and mixed-media installations, viewers are introduced to a world where mythology, nature, spirituality, and cultural identity intertwine.

Searching for the Songs of Wanaragua
A Honduran Garifuna teacher and an American filmmaker travel across Honduras to record traditional songs to use as teaching tools to help ensure the survival of the endangered Garifuna language.

The cinema club hosts intimate screenings for local audiences right in the heart of Center City Philadelphia.
